The new Honda Civic Tourer might just be a better looker than its hatchback brother. What we can tell you is the showroom-ready Civic Tourer has the biggest boot in the compact estate class, and employs similar suspension technology to that of a Golf GTI – or an Audi R8.

UPDATED... The UK's 2008 Budget has introduced a major car tax shake-up that will leave Britain's motorists £1.6 billion worse off, according to the Opposition. Motorists driving the highest polluting cars face tax hikes of up to £950 in showroom levies from April 2010.
General Motors, focusing on mainstream products in a battle to survive, has scrapped a unit that produced high-performance vehicles. GM on Wednesday disbanded High Performance Vehicle Operations, which is based at the company's suburban Detroit technical center, and redeployed its engineers, spokesman Vince Muniga said. "All high-performance projects are on indefinite hold," Muniga said.
